Dont know if anyone is interested but there's an original Stratos up for auction in December.
Lime green, current owner 20 years, auction estimate £45k - £55k
Details can be found on www.classic-auctions.co.uk
H&H hold classic auctions fairly regularly in Buxton. There's usually a good selection of Ferraris, Mercedes coupes etc. and its usually a good day out.
Does anyone out there recognise or know the car?
I'd be interested to know what it fetches on the day ( not that I'll be bidding, still saving up for the Hawk HF3000 )
One Day !!!!!!!!

Cheers Mick

That will be the Stratos belonging to the late Don Pither. He had his car for a long time.

There's also a yellow Stratos advertised in Classic & Sportscar this month. Described (with picture) as :

Rare 'no spoiler' version; Ex-Hrabi; owner since 77! Ideal for collection or historic racing; Central London.

Phone number listed, which I won't put in here, plus email contact address as info@stratos4sale.com

Not surprisingly, there is a web site at the url www.stratos4sale.com which has contact details too.

The yellow car is one of Christian Hrabalek's cars - that's Christian's email address.

All his cars are in fabulous condition.

The original stratos sold at Buxton by H+H auctions on 4th December was sold for £34,000. I was going to go and have a look (not to bid I hasten to add), but was going to try and get a few photo's for research purposes. Nightshift put paid to that idea though!

Considering it's history, ie owned by Don Pither for so long, I'm quite surprised it went for such a low figure. I had expected this to go for 45K+.

Remember to add on 5% of £34,000 plus VAT on the total.

Generally speaking auctions are not good places to sell Lancias. They can be good places to buy Lancias as there are not often many people bidding - although there is little opportunity to test the cars, and auctions can be outlets for cars that are not as good as they appear.

This particular car may have fetched a higher hammer fee if they had gone through one of the top level auction houses such as Bonhams (formerly Brooks) or Christies or Coys - although their fees are correspondingly higher.

My replica made £13,000 = £15,000+ at Bonhams in 2001.
