Just suffered a minor Bollox moment and broken a body catch
Anybody got a surplus one laying about I could beg, purchase etc. I have the lever and thats OK but the catch unit has snapped in half. Damned Italian monkey metal.
Hoping someone can help.
Thanks.
Mick :(

May be able to help Mick post a pic of the bit you need. I bought two new sets a while back, one as spare and one to replace my rear set. The one i need to replace may suit you

Thanks Steve.
Picture shows the catch I require. Not bothered about the spacer behind it. I can also clean it up if its a bit worn. Just as long as it works OK. :)

Just been cutting down and drilling my catches, mick, have you drilled a third hole in the catch shown?

Don't forget to radius all the edges of that mounting for the SVA :) That's the one bit of the catch that needs attention.

Rob,
All the edges of the catch already have a radius. Isn't that enough????
Shaun,
I haven't drilled a third hole in the catch unit because I consider that it weakens the already weakest part of the casting. That is where mine snapped acreoo the thin section.

Stephen,
Thanks for that and regarding the paint job. If all goes according to plan  then the car should be coming out of the garage under its own power this weekend complete with finished paint job and new wheels fitted. Watch this space !!!!!!!! Pics will follow soon. :)

Hi Mick it's not a quite a big enough radius. Chris Smith had had one fail on it. I rounded mine off a bit more and they did check. It has to be done to the book, just like the side windows ;)

Mick,
Rob is spot on - they need to be radiused to 2.5mm and the 'nose' really needs to come off to save the bother of trying to radius it.
I drilled a 5mm hole in a chunk if thick ali plate, then cut out a quadrant to make a radius gauge. Saves all the guess-work.

Thanks for that Chris. I know it seems a bit 'petty' but realise its for a good reason.

'tis indeed a pain, but rules is rules.....
I made extensive use of my radius gauge during the build.

My 'new' radius gauge has lead to a number of surprises, probably the best 5 minutes spent this week.
