Hi Rob, Happy birthday from us over at Kirkby. Any truth in the rumour that you've bought yourself a 'special' birthday present as an autumn/winter project?

Something like this perhaps.????? :D

The second picture looks like an engine Gerry has waiting for his next domonstrator...... His came from a pre-production prototype 147GTA found languishing in a Blackpool exhaust developers workshop a couple of years after delivery. Alfa said they didn't want it back but that it had to be broken up and the chassis plates returned...... so Gerry ended up with a 600 mile engine and manual box plus all the electrics for a tidy sum. Should be worth seeing!

Guy,
Sounds like a classic case of being in the right place at the right time. Some folks have all the luck.

That first photo...

...Is it a modern twin spark in an old Alfa? (105 or similar?)

I know it's a four pot, but a twin spark in a replica might be quite good. You could use the same gear linkage as a V6 Alfa? Less weight to shift too.

Not a case of being in the right place Mick, the exhaust people had connections to Manchester University, George Reads department, and when they asked the first name as a likely candidate was Gerry as they didn't know any other client of theirs who made a kit for the Alfa V6 so Gerry snapped their hands off at the full asking price, especially as it was carefully stripped out for him and supplied with everything needed. More a case of not what you know but who you know!
I actually had an offer from Gerry to co build/own the car with this engine but other things got in the way so we couldn't go down that route....... god alone knows how I would have managed to build another in a garage already occupied by 2 cars......
