Nice to see several of us making solid progress now the summer is here.
As you can see, my Olio paint job is progressing nicely (but its a bitch doing all the fine line masking) doors just temporarily re-hung to mask the blue areas in line with the centre tub. Louvres and boot lid completed and then the blue to be painted on the front section over the louvres. Now I'm really looking forward to that aren't I
In the meantime, Christine, my good lady, is cutting, fitting and trimming carpets ready for the final touches. She has finished all the upholstery now apart from the main dash panel. Thats on her list for the coming week before the screen is fitted.
Funny though, everytime I finish one job, I seem to find two more that need attention. Does this build process ever really finish.

Onwards, ever onwards.

In answer to your last question Mick, I'd have to say no and there are many who have been at it far longer than me! There's no end, just highlights and stage wins! Getting it on the road and enjoying the drive is a major stage win but it ain't the end of the rally! :D :D

Thankfully! :p

Nice paint job - looks like you got the colours just right.

Well its close enough for me Chris. I reckon the blue could have been a bit darker but its still going to be eye catching.

Looks great Mick. Have the wheels arrived yet?

It matches the calendar photo I've got on the wall here. I do wonder whether there was a variation in the colours used on the cars, or whether it's all down to lighting and reproduction when it sometimes seems almost black.

John,
Wheels were due to be completed last week so they will be getting a call this week, hopefully, to arrange collection.
Chris,
I tend to think same as you. I reckon that colours vary in photos due to different lighting and reproduction. I have a couple of pictures of the same car, on the same day but from different angles. One is definitely bright blue (which is actually the one I used for my match) and the other picture would pass for black until you study it closely.
Still looks good though, either way dont it.

Cant be long now, surely. Can it

You're getting there Mick.

That blue silicone hose you've got there. Does it bend wherever you want it to bend?

Yes Chris, pretty much where you bend it. Mind you, if you let go by accident, it doesnt half give you a wallop. :D

What colour wheels are you using Mick? I've seen Olio Fiats with red, white and gold.

Well Chris, I have gone for white. I think it compliments the colour scheme to perfection. I my opinion (and only my opinion) I think gold really doesnt work and as for red, well I think it makes the car look like a wheelbarrow. just something I have with red wheels. I've also seen the olio scheme with yellow wheels which came a close second. In the end, white does it for me. Just hope the machined wheels turn out how I expect when I pick them up. I'll post a picture to get your feedback.

I'll add to Mick's comment Chris, it has a steel spring built into it between layers, has a smooth bore and is handy stuff! Rally Design do Samco pretty cheap and Highbury Hose make their version cheaper still.....

Looking good Mick.

Thanks for that, Mick and Chris S.

I'm thinking about the radiator end. Having flexy hoses means only needing half the hose clips that you'd have with shaped stainless or ally pipes, and half as many chances for leaks! (between rad. and through cockpit/spine pipes, that is)

Having said that, stainless ones DO look good, but if there's a spare wheel up front you can hardly see them.

That's exactly what I did Chris. Spine pipes are stainless, one is straight, the other has a small offset. At the front, I have single sections of the wire-type fexible Samco going direct to the radiator. At the rear, I have a combination of straight and flexi hoses, plus elbows & a short length of stainless. More joints at the back than ideal, I hope to improve on this when the V6 goes in.

Can't see anything under the front of mine apart from the air duct.
