Anybody know if the glovebox key is the same as the one that opens the fuel filler cap?

I think they were. A flat bar with differing patterns and sizes of dimples.
If you have an original and need a copy take the lock with you or you'll be back and forth umpteen times between the car and the key cutter.

Yes it is Chris. The HPE had a lockable cap and the Coupe had a lockable flap if that's any help. The same key also operated the doors and the boot lid/tailgate. The only thing it didn't fit was the ignition lock.

Hi Chris
Thats what I have holding my boot down. Not strictly or Anally  correct but near enough for me. Secured with short set screws grafted to underside of boot lid.
The down side is that there's no sealing ring on the outside. (silicon on inside) My car was originally built using some bits from a Vx HPE so I guess this is also HPE?

Looks like a second series Beta glove box lock to me Chris - the first series had a big chrome surround and is held in place with a clip. That's not to say that it won't work mind!

It's a first series I'm trying to replace - the clip has disintegrated due to tinworm.
How did you get home so quick?

Chris - it's either the fleet footedeness of the Alfa with a demon driver/accelerator welded to the floor or I posted from my sisters computer.....
