Hello, you may remember me from last October wondering about stopping car racing and buying a Stratos replica-well I did and I have!. I recently bought the ex Paul Clegg yellow HF2000 (with an Alfa V6). I dont have a major job list for the car but I would like to put the correct boot lock on her if anybody has one too many!.
Many Thanks
Bob.

They do come up on ebay from time to time so keep an eye open. You could always send betanut a pm as he is a good source of Beta bits and bobs.
Congrats on buying the car.

Just wanted to thank susit and corseshris for their helpful advice. I bought a very a cheap and chearful lock at Stoneleigh on Saturday which at least externally looks right but when compared to the existing lock is too short but I might be able to make something out of it. But thanks for your advice, I keep an eye out. Anybody had a gearbox oil leek on an Alfa V6-just infront of the nearside driveshaft, it does'nt seem to be a shaft. Could it be a gasket or do they tend to be a bit leaky?.
Cheers
Bob.

Me giving helpful advice?? Are you sure it was me Bob?? :)
But seriously, I think you picked a good car there. Hope to see you at Abingdon.
I have a couple of Beta locks & keys but both have cracks in the plastic 'knob' so aren't much good really. If you aren't in a rush, let me know and I'll fetch them to Abingdon so you can have a look.

Hi Chris, when is Abingdon and do you need a competion licence to enter the sprint?
I know I've just given up circuit racing but I just thought I,d ask!.
Thanks for the lock offer-are either of them salvagable?.
My gearbox is leaky by the way, not leeky, sorry typed it in a rush!.
Cheers

Hi Bob,
11th/12th June IIRC. Must confess to total ignorance regarding the sprint, hopefully someone who knows will be along shortly.
I'll have a better look at the locks I have and take a couple of pics so you can decide for yourself.
Ah, leaky is probably better than leeky. Not sure resembling an onion would be good......

Hi Bob
Fraid so re competion licence for the sprint but its a good laugh and a very safe place to explore the limits of your car ( unless you drive a GT40 ) Entries are sought after as its a very popular event.
Is yours the car Nico just sold? if so I got to reverse it off the trailer last year. Thats as far as they will trust me with a Stratos I dont own. Five days in France with six Strats and I did'nt even sit in one. ;)

Hi Susit,
yes it's the giallo fly, stradale originally built by Paul Clegg. Isn't it stunning!. So chuffed to finally scratch a near 30 year itch. It does seem brilliantly put together, just needs a little sorting out as I dont think its ever been properly used.

Paul had little opportunity to use it, then had to sell, so your findings would make sense. FWIW, I too think it's a very nicely put together car. I visited Paul a few times during his build and helped a wee bit with advice on the V6 install. He still regrets selling it a bit....

Ooops Sorry Stevie, never thought about that one, you should have said....... :o
mind you I'll let you have a sit in mine at Abingdon if you want........... :D
Bob, see the Stratos events threads about Abingdon. If you want a run you'll need to ring Barry / Pat Guess sharpish if there are any places left, it fills up very fast. 150 cars altogether.....and yes you need a Cmp Licence but any National B will do....no ARDS test for sprinting !!!
cheers

Thanks for the info about Abingdon Rob. I think I'll have to pass on it this year at least. I've had an MSA renewal form on my fridge since January and finally decided not to race and buy the car instead-now if I go applying for competition licenses again it will only lead to more sleepless nights!.

What's the going rate for a lock & key? I've had an offer of one and don't know whether its £1 £10 or £100. Quick reply appreciated.
