Fiat 131 Servos are rarer than hens teeth, after trying 10 different UKfactors and so called specialists I have given up and gone for twin girlings m/cs and a balance bar, if the brakes need too much effort I'll put a remote servo on there are plenty of them about. David

Richard,I have the parts but not yet installed(still waiting for the kit) Bought 2 Girling 0.625 M/Cs for remote reservoir use from Europa Specialist Spares ,and a rr kit from them(SVA ok) and a Racetech balance bar assembly from Demon Tweeks BBK3.9. It all seems ok, and fits together, you can access both these suppliers online but the BB assembly isn't in the online catalogue only the paper one. You could also look at a Tilton BBs these are what Hawk suggest. David

I've just asked Martin K. whether he used a servo on his standard Transformer bias bar set when he rallied the car.

He didn't use one. So either it's ok like that, or Martin's got very strong legs!

Or try fancyengineering in Dorset, www.fancyengineering.co.uk Malcolm Fancy (yes his real name) has been very helpful in the past.

I didn't have / don't have a servo on my car either, with twin 0.625 masters and four-pot calipers front and rear,

However, the pedal was rather dead, and needed a really good shove, when I had single-pot calipers on with the twin masters. So I modded the linkage slightly to improve the leverage ratio between the pedal and the balance bar. I really like the feel it has now. Don't think I have the details anywhere though, but essentially the vertical pivot bar was changed from near equal leverage top/bottom to give more pressure for the same pedal effort (and slightly more travel). May well have stated the change in the SRC/SEC newsletter at the time though, so a search of those PDF's might find it.

I bought a new MC thru an online French supplier, think halfords in the uk have them so you must be able to get hold of one. I think the 131 and 132 and possibly the 124 cylinders are very similar - two front outlets and a rear. The rear comes off from either the top or the rear of the cylider. There may be differences with fixed and remote fluid resvoirs. My MC make is ATE (10183 I think & approx 52€)

If you are really stuck try Classic auto Behmann www.classic-auto.org (approx 100€ for the MC, servo 'on demande') or maybe it's possible to adapt a lucas setup, series III SWB Land rover for example but that is a wild guess at the moment.

I think the front circuit cylinder on mine is 0.75 and the rear 0.625. I would like to know what you changed on the pedal linkage. I remember when Bob Sharp took the servo off his car and frightened himself when he tried to brake for the first time after making the change. I think he fitted one servo for both front and rear circuits in the end, but I'm sure it would have been easier just to alter the mechanics as you have?

I'll have to suck it and see with mine because I don't have the original calipers and discs that were used with the master cylinder setup that is still fitted. I've got another 0.625 on the handbrake, so I that's another one I could try out when the time comes (a long time in the future at my present build rate!).

By way of encouragement to join the SEC, there is an article by Mark Cowling in the next newsletter issue about his bias pedalbox mods for his Hawk.

You'd certainly be asking for trouble simply removing the servo without changing the pedal ratio as John has indicated! 6:1 seems a common figure on the commercial items and gives a decent pedal feel (inlcuding all sorts of assumptions!).
