This post is directed at those of us with a chassis manufactured by Midas. For those that don't know the first production run of 10 chassis (I think) was produced by Midas Metalcraft. Mine is stamped as #8. This was mentioned in an earlier thread and produced an unusual reply from another member. He also has a number 8. A little further discussion between us and it was found that his chassis also carries #7. My car has the following (pic) located on the rear of the top chassis member in the engine compartment on the passenger side. I'm just curious how Midas have marked their other cars and if they have indeed doubled up on other numbers.

Cheers

Hawk subsequently also stamped the number on the master cylinder mountings at the front. Do either of you have different numbers front & rear, or did Midas only stamp in one place?

Chris,

My car has only the one ID stamp.

The other #8 is stamped with 7 on the plate that supports the strut top, and 8 appears on the rail above it. This is why I've asked the other owners where and how their cars are stamped. I'm curious if there is any uniformity at all in the Midas product apart from the chassis itself (which I assume was built with jigs provided by Gerry).

Cheers

Hi,
I've got the one with the two numbers.

I've checked mine today and there is no number stamped on the brake master / servo mounting plate.

I've also checked the original receipt - no chassis number quoted on that either.

As Oz has number 8 I'm going to adopt number 7 unless you know different!

Could Colin Artus shed any light on Midas numbers?
