Simon,

What exactly do you need a picture of?

You mention that it's the internal lock assembly that is causing you difficulties, but is this in assembling it to work against the door striker, or in connecting up the linkage from the inner door handle to the lock mechanism?

Photo's are only going to be possible if someone has their car in pieces already, or has not yet fitted their locks, but maybe a description of the actual problem may yield a solution. Not that it's an easy area to describe!

If you have the Hawk build manual, it does (did) at least have a diagram showing how the lock assembly needs to be modified and installed. From memory, this needed a threaded section to be added for the plastic lock knob, which points 'into' the car rather than up to the door top. You also need(ed) to modify the part which connects with the striker plate, as the clearances aren't correct for a standard X1/9 lock - unless that has changed.

Are either of these points causing the problem?

Or is it to do with the outer door handle, where it connects to the locking mechanism and also the operating lever?

John,

Simon has an Allora (amazing how many of these have come out of the woodwork in the last year or so), so won't have a copy of the Hawk build manual.

But if he explains his problem in more detail, maybe we'll be able to help.
