A few years ago, and you are going to have to forgive my memory here, I am sure I read an article in one of the car mags, about a carbon fibre stratos replica. The replica had a full carbon fibre tub and an "evoluzione" (If I have the spelling right) type body. This car was made and raced by a couple of gentlemen in the chesterfield area? I have done several internet searches since and not found any trace of the car. Does anybody recall the car, where it is and what happened with it? Is it still racing? I would love to go and see it if it is.

junior

The car belonged to the knighton brothers and ran a cbr 1000 honda engine with a chain driven diff. The tub was hand laminated in kevlar/carbon and had a large ground effect venturi and diffuser at the back. I'm not sure wether it was a full size replica or not.
I live in chesterfield but don't know the whereabouts of the car or the Knightons. I'll dig around for some info.

John.

Hi there,
Thanks for the reply. I remember the guys having built it themselves and I was impressed with their courage at building the carbon tub. My wife's family are from "Hady Hill" and we live in worksop. Are you far away?

regards,

Paul

Hi Paul,
I,m only down the road from you in Kirkby in Ashfield. As you,ve probably read, I,m currently building a Corse. You're welcome to have a look if you like. Are you currently building, contemplating or otherwise?
Cheers,
Mick.

Hi Mick/John,
looked at buying one a long time ago. Went somewhere up on the north yorkshire moors to look at one when they first started doing the kit. Forgotten the name of the place now. Ended up choosing a Lancia montecarlo instead. I would like to build a stratos replica eventually. They look fantastic, I think it would be a thrill to build and there wouldnt be the classic car worry of the dreaded rust. Option of glorious V6 alfa as well now! I would love to pop over and see you both and your projects. Send me some details/directions if you would.

Regards,

Paul

Hi David/Shaun ,
Wish I'd saved all of my old mags and the damned books I have thrown away. Mind you I would have needed a room to keep them all. What a great mag CCC used to be, one of the best. Much better than some of the stuff available now. Any chance of a copy of that article if possible?

Regards,

Paul

I've got boxes of older car mags in the loft - Rally Sport, CCC, Auto Performance, Motor Sport.

Keep meaning to get details of them all and flog 'em on eBay :-)

Sounds like Steve Greenwoods place at Halton Ghyll. So you must have been to see the Corse. (now Napiersport)
