View Full Version : Toughened Side Windows

The "Next Consortium" thread was getting a bit long, so I thought I'd start another.

Anyone know what's happened to the toughened glass side windows project. It looked like we nearly had enough names to go for the "medium cost" run.

I haven't heard anything for a while though.

On a point of detail... I've noticed that my left and right hand plastic windows fit with differing gaps to the body tub when the door is closed. Nothing a bit of heating and bending won't fix, but does beg the question that the glass side windows do not want to be mirror images, but need to be slightly different for each side?

Anyone else noticed this or have an thoughts / news??

Cheers

Pretty much ground to a stop. There isn't enough interest at the middle price so that appears to be the end of it. I will keep a list of those who expressed an interest for future reference though. Unless a cheaper supplier can be found I think we'll be staying with perspex sidescreens.

I'll give Autotemp here in the 'States another query. They had some reasonable sounding prices, (especially at the current exchange rate) but there was some question regarding the tooling required. I'll have to see if I can arrange to get them a sample window to evaluate.

They might be able to work up an estimate off of a perspex Hawk window, but they'll probably need a set of genuine glass ones to get final measurements from.
