David, I've got the engine end of a Hawk system that has been cut off at the universal joint bit.

Chris,

I'd strongly recommend that you chop that thing off at the flange...as the flange is the only thing that's any good. Don't take my word for it, check out Guy Crofts book in the exhaust section....

My TC ran like a pig on one of those.....but I understand from Rob it's OK on a Volumex if you couple the two branches.

Has anyone fitted a modified Montecarlo exhaust ?,there are two on the hospital web site which are designed for the TC for power. I am just having difficulty justifying spending nearly £1000 on the Hawk setup which looks a bit 'bling' and from previous threads sounds like a VW.

Guess I'll just bin it then. :(

Hi David
If you are considering spending that sort of money Speak to Guy Croft, as the latest Monte Hospital one is of his design. They are made by a firm at Nottingham and you could get a custom one made to that design to fit your Hawk for that sort of money. It will make a massive difference on a normally aspirated 4 Pot. It would still make a massive difference on a Vx too, but I have't got a grand to spend on and exhaust either !!!! :¬(

Do you have a phone number or contact address for Guy Croft as this sounds the best route,my donor Beta has been cammed and is on twin 40DCOEs with a standard exhaust it goes like stink already, so that would make it even better. DavidM

Hi David
see http://www.guy-croft.com/ Guy can get them to make you one to his spec / to match your engine.

If you bring your car up to the place that makes his Exhausts for them to make it, get in touch as it's very near me. I'm sure they could make you one to your own spec anyway but I think Guy has an understanding with them about his design.http://www.pdgough.com/

Let me know how you get on.
cheers

...well, the flange is worth keeping, as are the balljoints, and even the Y pieces might be some use...but not where they are at the moment :)

I wondered about a Monte exhaust as well, but I managed to pick up an old ex-Corse S system from Neil Simons for a good price which works great. The longer primaries are essential.

I'm keeping the early Hawk system for when I fit the V6 and plan on doing the usual trick as per Chirs' picture. In fact, I'm so stuck for space I might do it sooner rather than later!
