Hiya
Just caught the end of a trailer on Motors TV last night about an upcoming program on the Bertone Story. They didn't mention the Strato's but you can bet it will feature somewhere in the prog. I didn't catch the date it was going out though.

Anyone got a TV guide for satalite? It'll probably be in the next few days and repeated lots!!

PS After watching coverage of the Monte I hope the snow has gone when we get there! Can't wait to do the Col de Turini. We all intend coming home with all four wheels on though! :D

cheers
Rob

Yes, I agree with you Susit. It's not fair. I have to go to Tunisia instead.

Is there any chance of another such trip for next year?

Please....

Munari won in 1977 and Darniche in 1979.

Ok, according to the Pirelli Competizioni site i see that Bjorn Waldegard won the 1976 San Remo rally in a Stratos.

Well, 2006 will be the 30th aniversary of that victory.

What about a trip down to San Remo on the Italian Riviera next year.
We could either find the original route or do the San Remo Classic rally route. Either way, I'm sure it would be a blast.

The Stratos also won the Monte Carlo,Corsica and Portugal rallies as well in 1976 but they are much further to travel.

suggestions on a postcard......

Hopefully you will get to see footage of Solbergs co-driver scream when they go off and perhaps the Citroen - but that was not quite so funny and could have gone horribly wrong. I never had chance to see the full coverage, it was on at 1:55 and there are better things to do at that time of the morning. Everyone is saying that the Monte has changed too much. Only stages in the south, 30 odd cars compared to 300 a few years ago and now just a sprint.

As for the pace/snow/ice notes, the top drivers had cars go thru the stages just before they went live to check the notes and mark any over excited spectators who might be tempted to throw snow on the road. Not very sporting IMHO.

Anyway, sod all to do with Bertone on the Box.

Well I'm off to Finland in a couple of weeks. Mind you, I'll be swapping horse power for husky dog power. Anyhow, what sort of record did the Stratos have on the 1000 Lakes?
That always struck me a one of the 'real' classic rallies.

Mick.

Bertone anyone???????

Sorry to rub it in about the trip chaps, but you are gonna feel even worse when we get back ....Guaranteed!

76 was a one two three on the Monte, which is one of the reasons why Jerry started this whole thing off to practice for next year ;) . San Remo sounds good too. Best start organising Tim :p it takes bl**dy ages!

I think all WRC rounds have changed too much. Less of the Sprint and more of the long haul and night stages I say. The R.oger A.lbert C.lark rally is a great idea I think, More power to their elbow and I hope it goes even better this year.

Not seen any records for Strats competing on the 1000 lakes, did all right on the Swedish tho' !

Rob,
come on admit it your not sorry at all, and after all the help I gave you last year with your wheel nuts :D
I had a very brief word with Steve Perez at the Galloway hills rally last month and he indicated he may still be keen to aquire a Stratos to compete with in the likes of the R.A.C.

You leave my nuts out of it! :D
I've got some very nice tapered washers to snuggle my copper coated nuts up to now....
