It might be too early to get excited but a stratos replica should be able to get a h something cert and go rallying. That will see hawk sales rocket, maybe.

No I doubt it. My reading was that it would have to be an exact replica. e.g. an Escort Cosworth built up from a bare shell with all the right bits. For the Stratos this would include the Group IV replicas converted from Lancia Stradales. The Gartrac Stratos shells might come close, but I think there would be a struggle to get them recognised. I don't think Hawk or Corse would get a look in.

What about this one:

Scroll down to Stratos, it's obviously a replica.

The key phrase is surely "But a replica has to have a specification identical to that of the original. Otherwise it is not a replica at all, but a different car." How many Hawks and Corse have Dino engines?

I'd say that there is more than a stong possibility that it is Rolands old car, notice that it is on a French plate - that is a little strange, also no crash helmets.
I think the event was a hillclimb using some of the same road used in the Darniche/stratos DVD - col de la canadel or something like that but thats a guess.
Tom, are you still interested in joining the April 95 Monte trip?

It would appear that the passenger has a crash helmet and it was during a 5km hillclimb a few weeks ago.

Hi Shaun, Can't make the trip ,baby due just before then, will be busy here.Sounds like I will miss a good trip. I'm 100% that is Rolands old car, wheels painted, different mirrors and light pod added. How is it on a French plate,I was under the impression that it was almost impossible to register a kit in france. If this car has been done will that help you?
Cheers,
Tom.

Navigator on a hillclimb? Do they do it differently in France?

Yep, that is Rowland's car - paint scheme derived from Williams Honda livery.
He added the lamp pod some time ago. Also used Vitaloni Californian mirrors after the Fiat ones got damaged (and I've got the bits from those to mix and match with my broken parts). He also did the wheels when changing sizes, if I recall correctly.
Important thing would certainly be the point about getting French registration. Lionel acted as agent in selling the car, but the owner then went back to Gerry about documentation issues - although I don't think he was able to help directly (not as if he is really responsible for a third-hand sale, is it?).
Nice to see that the car is getting used by the new owner too.
All the best,
