Has anyone had problems with the clutch release arm interfering with gear selector linkage? I can't engage 5th with clutch disengaged. I think I need modify the release arm to fit?

Hi Brent
Sounds like a job for a blowlamp and a big hammer!

Cheers Rob
I have a large selection of hammers. Sometime I want to use them all at once, if it's been one of those days. But I've resisted the temptation so far ;)

Which clutch release lever are you using? Monte Carlo or a fabricated one? I think I had a small clearance problem with mine that was resolved by grinding away part of the arm where the return spring was mounted as well as part of the selector rod but we are going back over 14 years now and my memory definately isn't what it used to be.
Try putting the car in 5th and getting someone to operate the clutch to see where it fouls before grinding off too much, alternatively it may be an adjustment problem, try winding the rose joint between the vertical rod and the selector rod over the gearbox in or out a turn or two.
Hope this helps

Brent,
I dropped my clutch release lever off at Graham's last night so you could take yours over to compare. Does it help if you disconnect the linkage and just engage it by hand at the gearbox to see how far out it is ?

It's one of the fabricated arms but looking at it grinding may not be an option, I think it needs lowering 10mm and moving about 3mm towards the engine.
Chris
I'm hoping to get over to Graham's on Friday with the arm to compare.
sorry I missed you yesterday.
Thanks Brent.
