I am currently wiring my Alfa 164 engine, and on checking the connection for the Oil tempreature gauge found that there is no oil temp sensor on the 164!
Has anyone installed an oil temp sensor on the 164.

I put mine in place of a drilling plug on the engine / oil filter mount assembly (24v). If you're fitting an oil cooler you can fit it in the hoses. Alternatively some have drilled and tapped the sump plug to accept a sensor. The braver have drilled and tapped the sump itself.

Thanks Chris my unit is a 12v, drilling the sump is not something that I will attempt. The option to fit an oil cooler and fit the sensor to the hose would be a better idea.
This I think will be my next project.

Scratching my head a bit here.
Its a long time ago, and my remembry is shot ......
The original Alpha job was part of the dip-stick, which you may notice has a cable hanging off it, which i think doubled as oil temp and sump level.
This is hacked off flush. All I have is a T in the block, where the oil pressure switch was, carrying a temp sensor and high pressure oil switch. Works fine. But the sensor on the remote oil filter head seems a good bet too (my exhaust precluded the keeping of the Alpha original, so I have a take-off head and remote filter).
