Anybody interested in a 24V Alfa 164 motor or a Fiat Twin-cam. Alfa came straight out the scrapped 164 and has 34K miles on it. No gearbox. The Fiat Twin Cam was built for me by Avanti Motorsport in Street, Somerset and comes with gearbox, carbs etc. It has 8,000 miles on it and developed around 190 bhp last time I had the car tuned ( I now have a 164 12V motor in my car).

I may be interested in the 24 valve engine. Does it come with the engine management, coil pack, loom etc. Do you still have the rest of the alfa as i need a few more bits too.E-mither me the list of what you have and what you want money wise. cheers.

John.

It does come with engine management, loom, and all accessories, though I cannot verify whether these match or work. The story behind this engine is that I purchased all the parts ready stripped from the Alfa, then decided to fit a 12V engine. I would suggest that the engine is more suitable for somebody who already HAS a 24V fitted and wants a (good) spare engine. I know that the gearbox is a hard item to find for this one as it is specific to the 24V engine (unless anybody knows otherewise). If you are still interested in the engine, send an email to david10110@hotmail.com and we can discuss further.

It's just the ratio of the final drive and ? first gear that's different from the 12v gearbox AFAIK. The mountings are the same.

Hi Dave,

Just thought you would like to know, your old 24valve engine is alive and well in the back of Bernards 'chardonnet' strat rep. Actually got to grips with the throttle on it myself last saturday. Did wonders for my bad circulation :D

Regards.

John.

That's great to hear, the engine had been sitting in my garage for a few years but was low mileage, should be reliable and pretty fast I would think

Hi Dave,
Engine is great. Put it straight in,fired it up,splutted a bit, loads of smoke then ticked over nicely! Give about 150 bhp at the wheels on the rolling road. Have done about 2000 miles and still going great.
Had a quick peek at your car when I picked up the engine, looked good. Are you back in the UK? Will you be useing your car now.
Regards,
Tom.

Great to hear the engine was put to good use, it's a really good engine, not surprised it coughed a bit as it had been sitting for about 5 years !

My car is currently in Westbury in Wiltshire with Benalfa Cars (01373 864333), Alan Bennett built my engine and is doing a lot of final sorting (to complete my Alfa 3.0 installation, started 6 years ago). Main problem I have was a very dodgy Wilwood brake system that somebody (nameless) installed on my car when I originally had the V6 fitted. The handbrake system was useless (not the fault of Wilwood) so we're currently talking to Wilwood to get it sorted, other than that it will pass MOT, and I hope to be driving when I get back to UK from Thailand at Christmas.

I also want to shorten the gears and will fit the innards from a 2L twin spark, then it will be finished. I started my car in 1987, finished 1989.

I've got video somewhere of jeremy clarkeson driving my car in 1994 (with your engine in it), and commenting, aparently in awe, that "it's the most heterosexual car I've ever been in", whatever that means, with a fag hanging out of his mouth.

I'll try to dig it out and post it up sometime.

This is the second reference in the last few weeks to utilising the 2L box. What kind of benefits are there? I don't need a top end well into 3 figures...

Hi Dave,
Glad to hear you are getting your car sorted. Good to see that video sometime.
