On the Alfa front hub, the Alfa discs use a spigot to hold them in place on the hub, and the wheels have a 6th hole to accommodate this. The Hawk 5-stud hub has a threaded hole for this too. Would I be better to have the hole in the disc countersunk to use a screw to hold it, use nothing at all, or have all my wheels drilled with the extra hole? What have the rest of you done?

Chris,

I think most people opt for countersinking the brake rotor and using a screw to hold it in place.

If it makes any difference, I'm not sure that the spigot / screw is really neccesary. I think it's only there to help line up the wheels before the bolts are run in. Since you now have studs that will engage the wheel long before the spigot would, it's useless.

As for the screw... well, I guess it really isn't needed either. The wheel will keep the rotor in place when mounted, and the caliper should retain the disk when the wheel is removed. I don't think you'd miss it if you left it out.
