I wish the person who started building my car had followed this.

When wiring the instrument binnacle, allow enough length on the cabling to allow the binnacle to be removed as far as the driver's lap before having to unplug things. Trying to get your hands round the back of it to unplug connectors, or renew bulbs is a miserable activity when the windscreen is in. Must be damn near impossible with the steering wheel on.

Just a thought. ;)

I almost posted my own smart a$$ solution yesterday - a sub-loom for all the fiddly bits and a few multi-way connectors betwixt main loom and dash sub-loom. Allows plenty of room to remove the whole thing so it's a simple job to undo the speedo cable, undo the multi-ways and out it comes. Not too bad with the wheel on, dead simple with it off, screen doesn't come into it thankfully.
