It finally happened...... after 8 years and 6 months of trouble free motoring in the Alfa 145 covering 105,641 miles it has broken down......
The clutch slave cylinder failed in Hawick on Saturday morning resulting in a return journey courtesy of the AA on Sunday and forcing me to use the Spider for work this week. Not nice in the rain!

That's no breakdown Guy, it's normal failure given the age/mileage. I'm afraid you'll have to wait longer for a real breakdown...

Thanks for the sympathy Tryphon! If you want a giggle then read the archive article on my 13 breakdowns in the Stratos in one day! I think I used up most of my lifetime's allocation in one go and that's why I've been so lucky ever since..........
Touch wood, cross fingers etc etc!

Don't worry Guy, I had all the faults intended for your 145 in my 155......

Back on the road again! New one fitted and bled in 10 minutes this evening no probs. The only annoying thing being that none of my local motor factors could get one so i had to resort to Alfa themselves....... £56 later....

Is it cheeky to ask how often the clutch fluid was changed?

Of course you've been extra careful not to let any fluid reach the body work. It will eat through paint and metal...

Fluid changed in accordance with the Alfa service schedule at the major service along with the brake fluid, 72,000 miles but as Tryphon says, it's the sort of thing that does wear out in time... Nice to have it back though!
