View Full Version : Stratos' cockpit headroom

I would like to know how much space is in the cockpit of a Stratos. Since it seems to be a really small car, I wonder if there are "height requirements" to meet to fit well into it. I'm 6'2 but really short of legs and a really long trunk which makes me feel in many cars like driving with a baseball cap just over the eyebrows...

If anybody has hints about this, I'd be pleased to read his comments on it since I only rely on pictures to get an approximation.

Thank !

Depends on whether you're talking original or replica. There are some comments in the archive on this for replicas - there are ways round it. I don't know about Lancias, though - I doubt if you can lower the floorpan on one, but alternative seats might make a difference. Perhaps Tryphon or Randle could comment?

Lowering the floorpan is the only solution. On works cars the floor was cut, lowered and resoldered. That's the only way to fit with a helmet, no seat will do as even the Stradale seats are less than 1" from the floor and will not allow the use of a helmet in the car.
If wearing a helmet is not an issue then I guess 6ft3" is about the limit but you still needs long legs...

Im 6' 3" tall and rally with a helmet.
On one replica I lowered a small part of the floor by about 1", just enough to allow to angle the seat.
On the newest car I have left the floor alone and added a small dome in the roof , as per the 037 rally cars to give me that extra bit when wearing a helmet

Very important to choose a seat carefully
But you can do it and feel comfortable, especially important when you consider the rough ride in a rally

And we are off again next weekend
cheers

Can you post a picture of the power bulge?
