Even I managed to recognized the car was Ex Roland Casebournes from that lovely video that Dave Watson sent me / and all of Abington two years ago. Any more video's of last year and this years event ?? (to buy of course)

Speaking of recognizing, this years line out of cars at Abington, I think I know almost half of them (never met any one) thru the forum, ant care to list out the owners ?
Gerard.

Hi All,Red Allora front right is mine. I met Roland a couple of weeks ago when I bought some tyres from him and he said his car had gone to the south of France to a company that hires Lancias. This company is looking to buy more Stratos replicas and is using Lionel Gooch to source cars.

Cheers,

Tom.

Hi Tom,
Sorry not to recognise your car!! I'm half asleep tonight!

Interesting what you said about Roland's cars and Lionel shipping them to France......

It'll be interesting to see if it "cleans up" on all the other cars out in the UK ...

Cheers, Nico/

As already indicated, this was indeed Rowland Casebourne's HF3000, which was sold through Lionel Gooch to a customer from the South of France.

Although he no longer has a Strat, Rowland still intends remaining a club member and we should see him at shows when he can make it along.

It's a shame he had to sell the car, as he needed the money for a private operation on a back problem - NHS weren't likely to see to it and life was proving difficult if not almost impossible otherwise. Also a shame that he had paid taxes over many years and has to use private health services.

End of soapbox comments.

Guys,

Yep, Susit had it right - mine is back row right, dark red car, with abortion of an aluminium spoiler temporarily beneath the grille. (and the bugger still got worryingly hot driving home in 24 to 26 degree ambients, but only at seriously illegal speeds on the M6 toll road, where 30-year old tweaked Mini's come past at the ton-plus. And you just really can't have that, now can you?)

Oh yes, that drive - some peeps were asking what individual cars do per gallon in thrash and cruise mode. For the record, mine does about 8 to 10 mpg track-day, but only cos I'm a wuss. It should do 6.
Motorway cruise, say around 80/85 mph, standard unleaded, about 30/31 mpg.
Optimax, around 31/33.
Just discovered BP Ultra - a noticeable improvement, even over Optimax, and around 34 on the drive home from Oxford, at some silly speeds.
Any old fuel, "spirited" road mode, around 26/28. But that depends on the road, the day, and the cameras.

Makes me wonder if I'm running very weak up there. Maybe time to revisit the rollers.

Back from sea for another few weeks

If the link doesn't take you there use the "models" link on the page and go to Stratos and it's the first Alitalia car you come across......

Well, all I can tell you is that I don't actually know! I thought Gerrys first Alitalia demonstrator suffered the usual green paint error that most have with the band under the front indicator following the swage line so it doesn't meet the one on the bottom of the door. If I'm wrong about that then it's Gerrys demo as it has the right wheels, is RHD and has HF 2000 on the door!
