Hi All,

Can anyone give me a real world price guide to replica Stratos's (Stratii?)?

I'd really love to get one, but the prices being asked by some manufacturers for a kit is rather scary......:(

Second hand £5000 - 15000.

To build a new kit from scratch £14000 - £25000

you could possibly get one for that money, but it may be missing a few engine parts.... like valves or pistons ...... and would require additional cash to get running right!

For £5000, you're most likely going to be looking at an unfinished kit, or a well-worn 2-liter car in need of some TLC - if you can find one. Availability of secondhand cars is always in a state of flux.

I have seen a couple of complete Littons or Corse's sell in that range, although it's been a few years. I know there was one partially finished Hawk a few years back that sold for less, but it was really rough. (In far worse shape outwardly than yours was, Chris!)

If you're patient, you may eventually come across a budget-priced car in good condition, but you could wait a while. If you are willing to save up and spend a little more, your chances of getting a good car improve. I think £8-10k will put you in the range of good, solid 2-liter cars that are usable as is, without needing major repair work. You can then upgrade to 3-liter power as funds permit.:)
