2003 had 7 entries for the sprint. Are we going to improve on that this year?
Who all is going?
Remember you can have as much fun with 110bhp as 190 and is the taking part that counts not just the winning

Edit due to time travel hangover:D
Made a real pigs ear of this thread

Not wanting to sound stupid again, but I did not think the Abingdon 2004 sprint had been run yet.
I thought the 2004 Abingdon sprint was going to be held on June 12th.
I for one will be watching this event as I am getting used to my Corse i, which I have only had for 1 week.

I hope to take part in sprints in due corse.

Cheers

Tim

Methinks Stevie boy may have had a wee dram at lunchtime, he appears to have gained a year.
Anyway I`m entered.

Perhaps we should call him Schuschit.

Thanks Dave,
Guess I'll get a bit of a ribing at Abingdon, feel very guilty about not entering the Challange this year but promise will make up for it next year.

Just to say I'll actually get to bl**dy Abingdon this year, after being at sea and missing the last three.

No intention of sprinting or rallying cos
1) I need to drive home in it, rather than freight the wreckage,
2) I can feel a terrible thirst coming on.

Any arrangements been made yet re. accommodation and suchlike? (I've been away at sea again, this is just me kick-starting my life).

Guy's got the accommodation under control - 25 rooms pre-booked in some hotel or other. He needs deposits/payment soon.

Correct Chris! BUT the rooms are going quickly! I need to liase with Dave Watson soon as some people are going to be disappointed I think. If you haven't got your booking in yet with payment or credit card confirmation please do so as soon as possible. We may be able to get an odd extra room but that's it!

Arthur,
Just one minor point:

The Carnival event is open to anyone, but the AGM and AGM Award Dinner are for Club Members only. The Hotel rooms we've booked are for club members only.....

According to my records you are not an SEC member.

However, if you'd like to join, (it's only £15 for a year) I will guarantee you a room in the hotel !!

Of course, membership comes with lots of other value. Please send me your Email address and I'd be happy to explain to you all the advantages of SEC membership.

Hope to hear from you soon. Regards, Nico/

Stephen,
Cheeky! I'm in the Limey, and I'm only sprinting.....

I'm afraid Dave is going to be struggling to get his car finished in time, but he's going to make a call on that over this weekend....

I spoke to Rut this morning, but he didn't mention it.....

Guys, I'm with Stephen. Let's get some cars on the track!!! The sprint is not a big deal. There's nothing solid you can hit on the track (worst is a parking cone!) and you don't need to be crazy to do it.....

Go on, it's fun. it's for charity, and let's make Dave proud of his efforts to organise this event for us....

Cheers, Nico/

Stephen, if you can get yourself down this far, you can get a lift with us.
Or we could pick you up at Carlisle station.

:) Thanks for the offer Chris, I am hoping it wont come to that. New petrol tank should be in Subaru by then as we are off to Holland on our hols on the 24th June. Also I am hoping I can collect a pile of stratos bits on the trip south. Fixed the RAV last night so 1 out of 4 road worthy aint bad. Even managed to collect my nice new Radiator for my V6 upgrade. Its amazing how much storage space a pile of bits to make a car take up.

Yes, and it's amazing how difficult it is to find the bit you need, even though you know it's in the heap somewhere!

Hi all,

I have entered the Sprint event - in my old Orange car, which I hope to get through the MOT in the next week or two.

Entry sent off already, hotel booking request through Guy.

Just need to exercise my liver before the Saturday evening session!

If all goes to plan, the next newsletter should be out in time for Abingdon, and maybe updated CD-ROMs too. Newsletters not collected at Abingdon will be posted out to members just after that weekend.

Cheers,

Stratos

Hi guys, I would dearly love to take part in this years sprint, but I am not at all prepared for this event. I do not have a National 'B' license, or helmet, race suit etc.
I also need to sell my Alfa 147 before I can afford to play with my Corse on trackdays and sprints.

I will however come down to watch and cheer on the 12th of June.

This gives me one full year to prepare, so there should be no excuses for next years event.

Cheers

Tim

Hi Tim,
Please bring your Stratos and cheer us on. Great!

Also, make sure you get a couple of runs out with the racing Strats on the warm up laps...... It'll give you an idea of how easy the track is to navigate..... Although if you go with Jerry Bailey, make sure he's tightened his wheelnuts first....

By the way, these are the requirements on helmets and racesuits for the sprint: (Thanks to Dave Watson for the info)

Helmet must conform to one of the following:

- BS6658-85 Type A (Type B is not acceptable)
- SNELL SA95
- SNELL SA2000

Racesuit should conform to one of the following standards:

- BS 6249 Part 1 Index A or B (C is not acceptable)
- BSEN533 or PR EN533 : 1995 Index C
- FIA

Alternately, like Dave and I, you could buy a very nice Proban single layer National B Rally Race suit for around £60 + VAT from Sparx Racewear (01228 409595) They are very nice people and have helped the club in the past.....

By the way the Non Race National B licence is £31 and Event entry is £75 so it's not too bad as events go....

Anyway, hopefully this will encourage others for next year....

Cheers, Nico/
