View Full Version : Back issues of Newsletter????

Hi Nico and Guy. I really enjoyed reading my first newsletter (#65) after joining the Stratclub.
In fact I enjoyed it so much, I was wondering if ther is any way to get back copies or elctronic copies of articles from older newsletters.
After all, the content of 64 back issues must contain some usefull info to most owners.
I have scoured the forum several times and found most of the info very interesting, but I am sure there are many interesting technical articles and event writeups that are not so availabe to a recent member.
I read in the forum that someone had copies of many Stratos related articles from the motoring press. I can remember reading several such articles when I was much younger and would love to read such material again.
I believe that as well as maintaining a "Reputable source of history for the Stratos", we should be making this available to club members. Maybe setting up a private area on the website could be one suggestion, wher all such material could be mad available.
Sorry is I have gone a bit overboard with this suggetsion.
Cheers
Tim

Hi Tim,
Currently new club members are entitled to receive a CD ROM with a complete set of 65 back issues. Unfortunately we are out of stock of the CD ROM's at the moment, and my CD Burner is out of service. I will try to get these out in the next couple of weeks, but please bear with me.
Thanks, Nico/

Hi Chris,
Yes, that would be fanatastic. Is this something you could do for me? Please send me a Private Message or Email (secretary@stratclub.com) with what you need in terms of the latest newsletters, etc.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Really for Guy....................
Remember the back issues i had lent to the previous newsletter editor...was it Mark ?.......well i still have not had them returned after phoning him a few times myself when he actually promised to return them...i believe you said that you would look into it for me and try to get them returned ? It would be nice to get them back as they are from issue 1.
Cheers Guy

Hi Phil - I will look into it and fire off an email to Mark Chapman if I can find his address in the old paperwork. I haven't heard anything from him in years though I will try again for you.

Phil,
As you can see, Guy is going to try to get your Newsletters back, and I apologise on behalf of the club for the delay in returning them to you.
If for any reason we cannot get them to you by the end of May, I will personally produce another complete set of these in colour and bound as per the current newsletters, and send them to you.
If we need to resort to this, I hope it will go someway to compensating you for any inconvenience, but I hope we can find your originals for the sentimental value....
Thanks again for the loan of your originals so the CD ROM exercise could become a reality, and I hope we can settle this as quickly as possible.
Kind regards, Nico/

Regarding electronic copies of the more recent newsletters - I plan on bringing those along to Abingdon as PDF files on CD, so that they can be added and indexed for a new master CD.
The other point to note is that the copy used for printing the newsletters is generally a low-resolution PDF file (comes out at between 1 and 2MB) so that it can be emailed, but I also create a high-res PDF file for each newsletter, which is about 8MB in size.
The photo's come out much better in the hi-res version, so it would be nice to include that format on the CD when produced.
Abingdon is when the next newsletter is to be available, so any contributions in good time for inclusion please. And apologies to two contributors for missing out their articles in the last issue - they will be in the next one!

No problem with putting the bigger ones on John. CD is currently 176Mb so say another 50Mb for this years issues would still leave us enough for a few more years.
(Could you also include a raw text version of each issue on the CD please? I'll use that for the indexing).
We can always move to DVD when we outgrow 800Mb :) Perhaps we could even include some video footage then as well.....drat, what have I just said :o)

Will try to remember to sort out plain text files for you too (it's all in Word anyway, so text export should be fine).
I've also got some short video clips that could go on the CD (and I need to put them on the web site too, but that's another topic).
Cheers all,

Hi, I have got a Quicktime movie that I took of several Statos from AutoItalia 2000.
It is about 1.5 mins long. The quality is not brilliant, but is watchable. I will send it in on a CD.
Who should I send the CD to?
Cheers
