I have 4 Beta strut top mounts surplus to requirement, all with good un- perished , not separated rubbers.
Anyone interested/offers?

A good item for the club to stock if we're going that way..... A job I wouldn't mind helping with if required.

Good idea - they're getting difficult to get hold of, I think.

HI ROGER,
I AM ALSO INTERESTED IN THE TOP MOUNTS, IF ONLY I KNEW THE PRICE YOU WANT... I HOPE THIS DOESN'T TURN INTO A PRIVATE AUCTION/CONFRONTATION BETWEEN FORUM/SEC MEMBERS...
WE CAN LEAVE THAT TO EBAY... :(

I agree these would be a goo Item for the Club to stock. I'll discuss with the committee, and we can make a decision..
Panos, I also hope that there's no conflict between Forum and SEC members, but one way for Forum members only to avoid this is by joining the club!:D
Speak to you later, Nico/

Roger Donnan & I were discussing this at the weekend. We reckon that although you need something to connect the top of the strut to the chassis, the beta top mount is only one way of doing it. Roger has changed his setup to lower the car, and alllows the top of the strut to sit higher relative to the chassis. The top of the strut needs a bit of movement, as the there is a slight change in camber with bump & rebound, and when castor is adjusted, so it can't be bolted completely solid. The Beta top mount relies on the glue holding the rubber to the metalto hold the strut in place if the weight is off the wheel, as in yumping or jacked up. I suppose the Beta mount is the common way, since Hawks were designed round the Beta strut, but it's not the only solution that can be manufactured.

Hi,
I've used solid top mounts from "TAS". It's there "general fitment, concentric mount". It needs the sides cut-off to fit a HAWK chassis. They fitted it with the correct sperical joint and spacers to suit.
It's still requires the top spring plate to be drilled through to the diameter of the strut piston (I've got LEDA suspension), but otherwise is a reasonably straightforward fit. Double nut on top to lock.
Not cheap though @ circa £100 the pair.
I bought this to try to avoid drilling the top spring plate, but got given some duff info. and ended up needing to drill the top plate anyway, so no real advantage in fitment.
One advantage however is that I manged to slot the mounting holes to give about 3/4 of a degree of camber adjustment (I hope).
The car is not on the road yet, so can't tell you how it rides.

Guys,
Many of you will already know my enthusiasm for all things Beta (hence the 'handle') and this post interests me.... strikes me that there's common ground here between Stratos builders and Beta owners... each of which now have consortiums sourcing hard to find parts. Makes sense to me that this should lead to both 'parties' working together to finance commonly sourced parts.... like topmounts, struts etc etc.
We're all enthusiasts so doesn't it make sense?
I know that good secondhand topmounts would be snapped up by fellow 'betanuts' on sites like www.mylancia.co.uk (part of the 'betaboyz' consortium) and I'm sure other parts from Beta based Strats being converted to V6 power could find homes back from where they 'came'... fair comment not all the time and sometimes not quickly, but bear it in mind chaps.

I used the TAS mounts for the past 3 years, under rally conditions.
