View Full Version : Am I mad?

I don't know if I am going slightly mad, but for the first time I am considering selling my pride and joy. Transformer Stratos lovingly built and looked after since new by me over last 16 years. Yellow Alfa V6, round-arch group 4 body.

I have got it into my head to buy a lotus exige, no matter what I do I can't stop considering the idea. Am I doing something I will regret later?

Can anyone help?

Roger Donnan can give you a prescription that'll make everything seem better in the morning.;)

Might want to ask Bob Sharp. He sold his Stratos some years back, and I've heard that he's at least considered building another one to replace it.

Then again, he replaced his car with a Cobra replica initially. An Exige might be enough to not make you miss the Stratos as much...

I think you'll find that Bob replaced the Cobra with the Stratos, replaced that with a Caterham that took a week to build (where's the satisfaction in that?) and then replaced that with an Audi TT.

He is looking for a replacement Stratos, cheapest part built Hawk! If anyone knows of one please let me know and I'll pass it along!

Having seen your Stratos recently Dave dont do it you will live to regret it. There must be some body that will hire you a lotus for a day or two then I think you will change your mind. Put the Stratos on the road and drive it like you stole it and watch the grin get bigger and bigger.

I must admit the Exige is the only current production car that I would love to own, won't get rid of the Stratos though for it...

The series 1 Exige is now out of production, so it should become quite a collectable thing.

You could just panel up an Elise. It's cheaper.

I think Tryphon was on the right track:

Both cars and a bigger garage!

You might regret it otherwise.....

NOW YOU COULD SAY THAT THE LOTUS ELISE/EXIGE IS A MODERN DAY STRATO'S, AT LEAST IN SPIRIT, BUT UNFORTUNATELY NOT IN (BODY) STYLE... AND THEY ARE BECOMING COMMON AS MUCK...

LIKE TRYPHON, IF I WAS BUYING NEW TODAY THAT'S WHAT I WOULD GET... IF I DIDN'T HAVE THE STRATOS.
I HAVE DRIVEN A COUPLE (IMPRESIVE!!!) AND I HAVE SEEN THEM AT TRACKDAYS BUZZING AROUND AND PRETTY FAST THEY ARE TOO, BUT AT THE INTERVALS ALL THEIR DRIVERS WERE GATHERED ARROUND MY STRATO'S, LOOKING, CHECKING AND ASKING QUESTIONS... I REST MY CASE.:D

LISTEN DAVEAK, GET YOURSELF AN EXORSIST AND GET RID OF THIS DEMON, OR YOU ARE GOING TO REGRET IT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE...
FAILING THAT, HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT FOR THE STRATO'S AND DO YOU TAKE CREDIT CARDS, PAYPAL, ETC.;)

PANOS:cool:

P.S. I JUST NOTICED FROM YOUR PROFILE THAT YOU ARE A PSYCHOTHERAPIST... EVEN BETTER, GIVE YOURSELF A FREE SESSION, ONE-ON-ONE AND THAT WILL BE THE END OF IT...:D
