Next weekend at the Coal Mining Museum near Wakefield there is a DVLA auction of number plates.
I was going to attend but the price of the paintjob I am contemplating was a lot higher than I expected so, if anyone else is interested, they are auctioning STR410S with a start price of £350 plus commission, VAT and Transfer fee. Not perfect I know but STR470S and SRT4T have already been auctioned!
I would hate to think that everyone would turn up to outbid one another but I won't be there!

Is it possible to change the plates on a Q registered car.

Can I qualify that as yes but with a big BUT!
I did get a notice a year ago from DVLA to the effect that they were going to allow cars qith Q plates to have personalised numbers. So long as they started with Q. Previously, when a car was issuesd a Q plate that number was permanent,no wit seems that at some point inthe future you could choose your Q plate. No that I can think of anything appropriate.

I will, as I was the one who requested DVLA to consider auctioning it.

Like Dave, I got a notification from DVLA as I had asked for it as well! I suspect they only list numbers for auction once two or more people have requested it so they get the maximum revenue for it! Can't say I blame them. My interest has now gone as the Pirelli paint job quote was far higher than I expected and I'll need every penny and than some for that. So good luck Dave, hope no one bids against you - I may not let them back in the club next year!

So, neither Dave nor I made it to the auction and the number went unsold......
