I haven't seen anything in the catalogues to use for bleeding the heater/radiator hoses - is there a DIY solution tghat anybody recommends?

Just the obvious - fill the system, drop the heater matrix onto the floor so one of the pipes is at the high point and slacken it off to release the air. Should be done after the engine has run for a bit to allow the air pockets to accumulate but only bleed once it has cooled AND the pressure cap released.
I think the Demon Tweeks catalogue has a hose with an integral bleed nipple in it but it would be difficult to get at under the dash anyway!

Thanks Andy. I've emailed them to find out what size hose it fits. It looks just what I need.

I put a T piece in the top heater hose right at the matrix input, then ran a stub to a reducer, then fitted a slightly modified bolt-in schraeder valve that fits to the bulkhead. All running uphill all the way from the heater. Means I can bleed the heater from under the bonnet and any spillage ends up on the road, not the carpet. Could also be used to back-fill if required I suppose.

I usd one of the Monte Hospital bleed fittings to solve a high-spot in the engine bay as well. Seems to have worked as the engine will sit and run at stable temperatures for as long as I like.
