Has anyone tried to get hold of a set of big end bearings for a V6 Alfa recently.

The ones i have been supplied with correct Part No as per My CD and current CD are supplied without the hole to pass oil to the conrod oiljet passageway.
Does anyone know if this is an error or simply a case of alfa thinking the oil jet to the liner wall is no longer neccesary.

Hi Roger,

I re-built my engine about 8 months ago and got the main and big end bearings from "ebspares".

The big ends bearings had holes in them and fitted as expected.
This was a 1989 12V engine.

Hope this helps

Andrew

I have spoken to EB spares, all the bearings for the past 3 months have been coming through with no holes - and aparently new conrods have no oilways!

I presume the powers that be feel the oil feed jets that come of the mains and are aimed up the bores are enough to provide lubrication and cooling.

Personally I'm sure that more is better in this case so I have no option but to get the shells drilled.
