Following on from the previous two successful Stratos UK Motorsport Weekends in 2001 and 2002, we will once again be holding the Stratos UK Motorsport Weekend at Abingdon as part of the Abingdon CARnival Weekend. The dates for this year’s event are Saturday and Sunday 7/8 June 2003.
Those of you who have been to either of the two previous events will know what to expect – a full weekend of exciting motorsport, and the company of a hoard of Stratos enthusiasts.
For those who have never attended, and to remind those who have, I have enclosed a special treat – a short video documenting the 2002 event.
AND, because, this year, we will be celebrating 30 Years of Stratos, we will have additional attractions.
Already
confirmed is the attendance of the David Sutton Motorsport Alitalia Gp4 Stratos,
and the ex-Hans Stuck Stratos of Tony Graham.
11 Stratos will be competing over the course of the weekend, with many more on display.
Accomodation will once again be at the Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel, and I have made a group booking at excellent rates for the weekend at the hotel. A booking form is enclosed, for you to post, or fax, to me. (Or email me with details.)
The weekend’s motorsport will once again comprise a SPRINT on the Saturday, and a RALLY on the Sunday, so we are all guaranteed an exciting weekend.
Last
year, Jerry Bailey, in his Martini car, clinched the STRATOS SPRINT TROPHY,
leaving all other contenders trailing in his dust, while Tony Aylott and Jan
Leach’s white Stratos slithered around in torrential rain to come home
victorious in the RALLY.
Will they be able to hold on to their crowns this year? Will a new contender come along and sweep all before them? Come down to Dalton Barracks, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, UK over the weekend of June 7/8 2003 to find out.
Anyone
planning to compete, or attend, this year, should let me know as soon as
possible, so that I can arrange entry forms, and so that I can get an idea of
how many competitors, and attendees, we can expect.
